Scripture Connections

I spend a lot of time "in the Bible."  I read it, read about it, think about it, doodle about it.
I love making notes about connections I see in it - connections between OT and NT, between promises or prophecies and fulfilment, etc.

So I thought I would share a few of these with you.
They are about God's will, pleasure, promise, oath, and work to save all people.

The first is below, and I'll add the others as comments to this post over the course of the weekend.

God's Will - to save all people
God wills all people to be saved and come to recognise the truth.
[ 1 Timothy 2 : 4 ]

God declares the end from the beginning, and from long ago what is not yet done, saying, "My plans will stand, and I will do all my will."
[ Isaiah 46 : 10 ]

  1. God's Pleasure - to save all people

God made known to us the secret of his will according to his good pleasure, which he himself had previously decided, to be put into effect when the times reach their completion - to bring unity to all things in the heavens and on earth under Christ.
    [ Ephesians 1 : 9, 10 ]

All the peoples of the earth
    are regarded as nothing.
    He does as he pleases
    with the powers of heaven
and the peoples of the earth.
No one can hold back his hand
or say to him: “What have you done?”
    [ Daniel 4 : 35 ]

  2. God's Promise - to save all people

And you are heirs of the prophets and of the covenant God made with your fathers. He said to Abraham, ‘Through your offspring all peoples on earth will be blessed.’
    [ Acts 3 : 25 ]

For no matter how many promises God has made, they are “Yes” in Christ. And so through him the “Amen” is spoken by us to the glory of God.
    [ 2 Corinthians 1 : 20 ]

  3. God's Oath - to save all people

    By myself I have sworn,
my mouth has uttered in all integrity
a word that will not be revoked:
    Before me every knee will bow;
by me every tongue will swear.
They will say of me, ‘In the Lord alone
    are deliverance and strength.’”
All who have raged against him
will come to him and be put to shame.
    [ Isaiah 45 : 23 - 24 ]

People swear by someone greater than themselves, and the oath confirms what is said and puts an end to all argument.
Because God wanted to make the unchanging nature of his purpose very clear to the heirs of what was promised, he confirmed it with an oath.
God did this so that, by two unchangeable things in which it is impossible for God to lie, we who have fled to take hold of the hope set before us may be greatly encouraged.
    [ Hebrews 6 : 16 - 18 ]

  4. God's Work - to save all people

For God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world, but to save the world through him.
    [ John 3 : 17 ]

    After he (Jesus) has suffered,
    he will see the light of life and be satisfied;
    [ Isaiah 53 : 11 ]

I (Jesus) have brought you glory on earth by finishing the work you gave me to do.
    [ John 17 : 4 ]

    In summary, we see
what God has willed is his pleasure,
what is his pleasure he promises,
what he promises he swears to,
what he swears to he sends his Son to achieve,
..... which is the salvation of all people.
